Tourment gallery proposes and sells a fossil pecten plate Miocène of all sizes, Dubai
—–this work is sold—– Tourment gallery proposes and sells a fossil pecten plate Miocène of all sizes, Dubaï The natural grouping of fossil scallop panels is like an organic response to the modern sculptures of the famous French sculptor César Baldaccini. This group of extinct molluscs (Pectinidae) is thought to have originated from the seas of southeastern France during the Miocene period, the first geological period that produced the most productive ecosystems on Earth. These beautiful and large blocks of ivory white limestone, or marine clastic sedimentary rock also known as molasses, have an abundant accumulation of adult scallop fossils from the Bourgadilian era (15 to 20 million years before our era), approximately when the group of marine molluscs (ammonites) disappeared. They were discovered near the castle of the Marquis de Sade
These geological formations, which have led to these accumulations, which are probably unique in the world, allow us to offer you these sumptuous achievements, both natural and artistic.
Nicolas Tourment knew how to clear, preserve and sculpt these rocks with an undeniable mastery, “it is a bit like cutting a rough diamond”…
