Exceptional in size and quality, these two sea lilies are a marine animal, Crinoids are a class of the Echinoderms phylum, containing marine animals that are commonly referred to as Sea Lilies or Encrines. These animals are, throughout their lives, or at least during their young age, fixed by means of a rod or immediately by the (lower) dorsal part of their body. A spherical or caliphate dermal skeleton, formed of platelets, contains the viscera. On the upper (ventral) side of the chalice, there is usually the mouth and anus; around the mouth or on the free edge of the chalice are five to ten articulated arms, more rarely two, four or six; these arms carry lateral appendages called pinnules. The organs of the generation are located outside the body cavity, in the arms Crinoids are among the animals that first appeared on the surface of the globe. They are already present in the Cambrian layers and are abundant in all Paleozoic era sea deposits. The number of separate articles from the stem is large enough to play an important role in the structure of the globe as Crinoid limestone.
